Always, and I mean always, the best $13 spent on a pint of ice cream. I know it sounds a bit frivolous, but just keep reading. Jeni's is more than splendid, it's even supportive of local farmers and knowledgeable to where and how every individiual ingredient is sourced and grown. Milk from grass fed cows, a cookbook on the NY Times bestseller's list, and a second cookbook adding more ice cream-dessert wizardy to make personalized ice cream inspired cakes and treats!

Did I also mention that all of my pints pictured above were delivered directly to my apartment, via online ordering, and choosing whichever seasonal flavors I'd like? And the distraction of mysterious dry ice to keep the fiance occupied while I hide each pint in the back of the freezer...he still never looks behind things =)

I have a favorite flavor so far, and revealing my favorite will also reveal that I have ordered from Jeni's more than once [because it is not lovingly displayed in the above photo]. Don't judge my ice cream addiction! Okay, I will tell you.

Pistachio and Honey. If I could invest in a dozen pints at a time of this flavor, I most certainly would eat a spoonful a day for weeks! The pistachio flavor is the most true pistachio nut component of ice cream I have ever savored. There's nothing else like it, especially if you love pistachios like myself. And how cute is it that they use locally sourced honey to add a touch of sweetness?

Creamy, oh-so-dreamy nutty goodness and texture, with no mysterious Hulk green added dye or coloring added, hence the pistachio-muted brown skin tint of the ice cream. I am happy to hear that it was one of Jeni's original flavors from her first Ohio scoop shop in 2002.

Another favorite would be the dark chocolate peppermint, and try a little sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top of that generous scoop! Banana French Toast and Rocky Road are also playful and delicious. The flavors are incredibly innovative, inventive, and just so darn addictive...there should be a flavor of the week club!

It's a holiday weekend, treat yourself to some fancy ice creams, and don't share the physical pint with your friends, but rather the story of your first spoonful and how you're hooked on Jeni's ice creams...which will make them jealous, get them online, and order their own pints of greatness. Happy Memorial Day weekend!

P.S. She is going on a book tour and coming to Boston next month! I'm taking off of work, right now.
